precipice
36 x 48 inches
oil on cradled panel
A precipice can be defined either as a sheer rock cliff or a perilous situation. This painting started with some sketches of the bear sitting with its mouth open, as if calling out in distress or warning. At one point, I was going to add flags on the posts, but ended up removing them as the painting was more dynamic visually with just the posts, as well as more enigmatic.
